Relationships between Cognitive Function and Quality of Life of Elderly Stroke Patients

Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to see if a correlation between cognitive function and quality of life of elderly stroke patients improved by administering LOTCA-G £¦ SS-QOL.

Method: The study sample was composed of 45 stroke out-patients who participated in the rehabilitation department in G-city. LOTCA-G and SS-QOL were administered to those patients

Result: 1. The gender, age, educational levels and spouse of the participants affected the outcome of cognitive function of elderly stroke patients who were administered LOTCA-G. 2. The gender, age, educational levels and spouse of the participants affected the outcome of quality of life of elderly stroke patients who were administered SS-QOL. 3. Between the sum of LOTCA-G and the sum of SS-QOL marks, a significant correlation was shown statistically at all levels.

Conclusion: Using LOTCA-G and SS-QOL, elderly stroke patient`s cognitive function and quality of life improved in all levels. Through this study, it shows a solid data base is necessary for the improvement of cognitive function in elderly stroke patients.
